"The greatest wealth is health." - Virgil
A friend of mine recently committed to getting in the best shape of his life. His reasoning? Transforming his body will transform every other area of his life. I couldn’t agree more. Without health, life becomes a challenge. If health, wealth, and love are the pillars of life, health is the foundation. Without it, how can we fully experience love or build wealth?
This conversation reminded me of a woman who dreamed of travelling to France. She longed to walk the streets of Paris, explore monuments and marvel at its beauty. Year after year, she put off her dream and neglected her health. Now, at 77, her physical limitations have stolen the joy of her dream.
Witnessing her decline has been a vivid reminder of why I prioritize my health. I’m not chasing aesthetics (though that’s a nice bonus!). I prioritize my health for longevity, quality of life and to fully embrace every moment. I want to hike for miles, lift heavy things, pick up my future grandchildren, shovel my driveway, garden, run, jump, and chase my dreams without physical limitations.
The good news is that prioritizing your health doesn’t have to be daunting. It starts with small, intentional steps.
✨ Clarify Your Why: What do you want from life? How does your health play a role in that? Identifying your “why” can provide clarity and motivation.
✨ Set Small, Achievable Goals: Start small! Maybe it’s walking for 30 minutes a day or choosing whole foods over processed ones. Celebrate small wins, as they lead to big changes.
✨ Focus on Progress, Not Perfection: Make each step better than the last. 1% better every day. Your health journey is a marathon, not a sprint.
✨ Be Compassionate with Yourself: Change takes time! Be kind to yourself during the ups and downs. Setbacks happen, but what matters is consistency over perfection.
Taking control of your health is empowering. Every step you take today is an investment in your future, freedom, and well-being. You deserve a life without limitations. So, ask yourself: What’s one small action I can take today to invest in my health and future?
Let’s not wait for “next year” or “someday” to prioritize our health. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll feel the benefits and have the energy to chase your dreams.
What’s your next step? How will you invest in your health today to ensure a better tomorrow?
